A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled towards a person, or into a vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar right and left-side Crew Cab, Quad Cab, Mega Cab, and Standard Cab side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) sold as replacement parts. Please see the part 573 report for a list of affected part numbers. The SABIC inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace as necessary, the SABIC assemblies, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on October 4, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC’s number for this recall is Y56.

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – Y56
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced an equipment safety recall on certain MOPAR Side Air Bag Inflatable Curtains (SABIC’s): Crew Cab – Right 68161578AJ, Crew Cab – Left 68161579AJ, Quad Cab – Right 68161580AI, Quad Cab – Right 68161580AK, Quad Cab – Left 68161581AI, Quad Cab – Left 68161581AK, Mega Cab – Right 68184324AH, Mega Cab – Left 68184325AH, Standard Cab – 68184326AH, Standard Cab – 68184327AH.
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above SABIC’s may have been manufactured with an inflator that may rupture. A SABIC inflator rupture may result in compressed gas rapidly escaping from the inflator and material potentially being propelled into the vehicle. Material being propelled into an occupied vehicle, or in the direction of a person if the inflator is not installed in a vehicle, may cause injury.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to replace the SABIC. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this equipment safety recall by way of established communication methods. This equipment recall is estimated to launch in 4th Quarter of 2021.
