REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above vehicles may have been built with an off-location weld(s) on the front seat head restraint frames. Head restraints that do not meet the strength requirements may result in an increased risk of injury to seat occupants during certain crashes.
The condition described above does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No.202a. S4.1 requires that “a head restraint that conforms to either S4.2 [static strength] or S4.3 [dynamic strength] of this section must be provided at each front outboard designated seating position.” Vehicles built with a front seat head restraint frame manufactured with an off-location weld may not meet the FMVSS 202a S4.2 static strength requirements.
